Overview
Working as a volunteer on our mangrove and environmental conservation program will open your eyes to the threats and challenges faced in the Maldives. The Maldives is suffering from severe environmental pressures. However, there is low community awareness of these issues and people lack information related to the dangers they face as a member of the local community. With your help we can help alleviate these problems and create a brighter future for the residents of the Maldives, in particular Hoandedhdhoo.
Whilst working with us as a volunteer your main duties will involve helping to improve and sustain the local eco system. Major tasks include mangrove reforestation and management, cleaning the mangrove systems to remove waste such as plastic bottles, beach cleans to remove accumulated waste, and finally spreading awareness to the local community.
Volunteer roles and responsibilities :
- Mangrove planting & planting terrestrial trees around the mangrove area
- Help in regenerating the mangrove forest, through replanting of mangroves
